The Gift of Silence

So, it's that time of the year again when the common cold and the flu are running rampant through our bodies. I, unfortunately, have fallen to the mighty strength of the flu and over the past few days have been coughing and sneaking with the best of them.

Imagine my joy when I woke up this morning to NO VOICE! That's right ladies and gents, I'm having a silent day. I went to work and did my best sign language to participate in conversations but I had to cancel all my client appointments and my boss ended up sending me home.

What was I to do with my day off that wouldn't require me to talk? Well, I'm a writer so I wrote! That's right I got to spend a WHOLE DAY writing without interruptions. Oh, the bliss. I couldn't answer my phone, I didn't feel guilty for being at home because I was genuinely sick and I got to write for hours.

My novel has greatly benefited from this flu and I'm considering not getting the flu shot next year so I can have a repeat of this gift of silence.

To date, The Mind Walker is over 75% completed and I couldn't be happier with it. I'm hoping to have a completed first draft by the end of June. Exciting!!!

News on Book One in the series - The Time Walker:

Well, I have a completed draft finished and I've printed it and had it bound (had to be bound in 2 separate books as there are too many pages for one binding) and a friend of mine is going to do a final read over and "red pen" it before I send it away for queries. This excites me more than I have words to express and I really hope that soon you'll all be able to read it!!

Just a little side note for you about something that I think is fantastic!! You'll see in the side bar that I have a new icon about getting me to sign your ebook copy of Pieces of Us. This is a newish website called Kindelgraph and they have set it up so you go there and if you've bought my book for your Kindle, you can send me a request and I can digitally sign your ebook and it will appear on your Kindle. I can personalize it or just give a signature. HOW AMAZING! So, if you have my ebook and would like me to sign it for you - I'd be more than happy!! Click on the icon in the sidebar and follow the request details. YAY!

H xx

  1. And I'm looking forward to signing kindlegraph requests on my newish iPad so that my signature doesn't look like a second grader's!

I lost my voice earlier this year and had to miss some appointments as well. In some ways it sucks but in others it's kind of nice! Congrats on your progress on your new series.

  2. Since retirement I haven't had any virus invasions (knock, knocking on wood). No illness of any kind. I have a kitty sleeping on my lap right now (weighs a ton), going to make breakfast for hubby and me, then I'll slowly move on to writing, gardening, or just finishing yesterday's bottle of wine. So hard, this life of retirement. LOL Hope you get well soon, Hannah.
