Musical Inspiration

I've noticed that a lot of authors like to listen to music while they write, or they have songs that inspire their writing - and I'm one of them. I thought I would share some of the songs that I'm listening to that are inspiring my current novel, The Mind Walker (Book 2 in The Walker Series).

This song stunned me when I was searching through the thousands of songs on my iPod and came across it. The words of this song are almost as if they were written for a specific chapter of the book and I listen to this song a lot when I'm writing the Liam character. It's as if Liam wrote this song himself!

The other male lead in my series is Daniel (because what's a love story without some competition, right?). When I write Daniel, I always here this song in my head.

The girl who both Liam and Daniel are thinking about, that inspires these song choices, is Holly Stevens - the main character of my series. Holly goes through some major emotional arcs throughout the series but where I am writing right now, she's feeling like this -

I hope that gives you all a little taste of what's to come in my series and if you are curious about anything, feel free to contact me with questions!!

Before I sign off I have a special treat for you all. I don't usually post on weekends but this Saturday is a special event for an author friend of mine and she will be here to give us the lowdown on her DREAM CAST of who she would like to play her characters in a movie. I have a feeling some very pretty boys might be involved (*cough* Chris Hemsworth *cough*). Please come back and get to know a little bit about Lisa Sanchez - she's an amazing author and I know she would appreciate you all stopping by.

H xx

  1. So you're admitting to liking a Lionel Richie song? Hee hee. While I write I like to listen to songs without lyrics (jazz, classical, movie soundtracks) but I can also be inspired listening to The Fray, John Mayer, or Dido while walking.

  2. Look at you going all retro with Lionel & Meatloaf, young one! The Three Doors Down song is really nice - I can imagine the goosebumps when you heard it and Liam came immediately to mind.

  3. hahaha Yes, I may be known to love a few oldies!! lol
