NaNoWriMo is over half way through now and I'm powering along. I've done 40,000 words so far which brings my total words for the new novel to over 70,000. Which means I'm about 2/3 of the way through the first draft. VERY EXCITING!
One of the great things about NaNoWriMo is the support you get from other writers who are doing the challenge as well. Tonight, in my city, there is a "Write In" where a group of us WriMo's are getting together at the city library, bringing huge vatts of coffee and are going to write together for several hours. I'm very much looking forward to this.
I know from my time as a writer in an online writing community that writing alongside others can be a huge motivation so I'm hoping to get a good amount of words written tonight.
I'm also still struggling with a name for my male charcter that I discussed in a previous blog entry. Someone suggested the name 'Chase' and I really liked that so I have been using it - 40,000 words worth of Chase - but I'm not sure it fits the character. I am also considering the names Daniel and Colin but when I suggested these to my friends they screwed their faces up (no offense to anyone named Daniel or Colin). I am still calling out for names, the same prize still stands from my previous contest - if you suggest the name that I use then I will name another character after you.
And, on a final note, I went to see The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1. I have to say that I loved it! I laughed and I cried and, of course, I swooned. There was one part where I burst into tears when no-one else was crying and I think it was just a powerful moment for me. I don't think this is a spoiler so it should be safe for those who haven't seen the movie. There is a part where Bella is walking down the aisle at her wedding and the camera zooms in on Stephenie Meyer, who is a guest at the wedding. The pride and joy on her face as she watched Bella walking to marry her Edward in her gorgeous white gown was so overwhelming for me. It made me wonder how I would feel if one of my novels was ever made into a movie and I got to see it, something that was created in my own imagination, acted out in front of me. So powerful!
Okay, I'm going to get ready for my Write In and I might have to go and watch Breaking Dawn again over the weekend I think!! *wink*
