Well, week one of NaNoWriMo is done and dusted and I'm sure you are all curious about my word count for the week... I know I was curious to see how I had done. As a reminder, the goal is to write 50,000 words in a month, or 1667 words per day. So, for week one the word goal is 12,500 and I wrote... 28,267!!! I'm seriously patting myself on the back right now!
I'm not going to clain that it has been easy - it hasn't. There have been days when I haven't wanted to write, when my laziness kicked in or I was simply too busy. But, I didn't accept any excuses. 1667 words had to be done every day and I wasn't going to let myself off the hook. And, I even found that once I got going I didn't want to stop. I was averaging about 3,000 words a day. Some days I even have to force myself to stop writing so I could make notes on future chapters, otherwise I'd have nothing to write the next day!
If you would like to keep a track of my NaNoWriMo journey, you can right here at my author page - http://nanowrimo.org/en/participants/hannahdowning81 Feel free to add me as a writing buddy if you are participating in the challenge. We can encourage each other!
I've seen some people doing daily quotes on their facebook accounts. Is this something you would all be interested in having me do? A one liner from my 1667 words of the day? I'm happy to go on popular consensus on this. Let me know a yes or a no.
Also, I went to see Anonymous last night at the movies.
It was fantastic! I am fascinated by ancient England (as you will see when my new novel comes out) and I love Shakespeare. The thought that he may not have authored his many plays intregues me. The movie was very well acted and sucked me in. I felt the need to rush home and study up on William Shakespeare, Bejamin Johnson and The Earl of Essex to see if there was any truth to the claims of the movie. I am sad to say that I think this will remain a mystery of the ages.
On a personal note, I am considering undertaking a Masters Degree for my non-writing career but I am torn between doing the study, which would take up A LOT of time, or writing novels. I don't think I have the time to put into both efforts so I am forced to choose one. My mind is telling me that being an author is very hard and most people don't make good money from it so just keep it as a hobby. But my heart, ahhh the heart, wants to write!!
On a personal note, today is my Mum's birthday!!! Happy birthday to my wonderful mother!!
Until next time... keep those words coming!
