Genetic Kudos and Getting Back Into It

Hello dear friends,

This is going to be a shorter post today as I am quite busy but I wanted to write something as it has been a while since I posted.

I got a phone call from my paternal grandmother last night. She was excited to tell me that she had recieved a copy of my novel and had read it and LOVED it! This was such a special comment for me as I'm sure many of you are the same and have strived for things and bettered myself in an attempt to make those I care about proud of me. It's strange how having someome so special to me love the book has increased my confidence.

This new found confidence has given me the motivation to get back into my new novel. You all remember how I had lost part of it when the tech wiped my harddrive? Well, I think I'm finally ready to get back into it and I plan to start today. I'm so excited about this novel and am enjoying getting to know these new characters so much. I can't wait until it's ready for you all to read!!

On a personal note, I spent the weekend away with some friends. We went on a road trip and had a great time. Some friends of ours had gotten engaged recently and we went to their engagement party. We had been assured that the weather would be warm so we all wore summery type clothes, but as soon as the sun went down (it was an outdoor party) the temperature dropped drastically and we all froze. I believe a friend of mine made a comment that it was like drinking wine in Antarctica.

Our hands and feet were so cold that it hurt and we couldn't stop shaking and shivering. There were small containers of bunring coals in the garden and a group of us spent the whole party huddled up around the small fires trying to stay warm. Surprisingly though, we had a fantastic night. The food was amazing (there was a whole goat on a spit. I had never eaten goat before and was a little cautious, but it actually tasted really nice) and the company was great. When we finally headed back to our accomodation at around 1am we were all shivering but happy.

The next morning we all went out for breakfast and that was a complete disaster. Every single thing that could have gone wrong, did go wrong. I couldn't have been written better in a book or movie script. There was cold food, wrong food brought to the table, hair in the food, food sent back and when it brought back to the table it was still wrong, rude service, an hour long wait for the food, and several of our group had food poisoning later in the day. Needless to say, we will never go back to that place again. But, it all adds to the roadtrip expereince and gives us something to laugh about in the future.

I'm going to get back into the writing and hopefully my next post will have some great little teasers for you to read. I hope you are all having a great day and that you are smiling!

Until next time...

Hannah xx

  1. Yay, Grandma!!! That' is so exciting. Funny how one very special reader can make such a big difference. I think my biggest coup was my Godmother, on whom one of the characters was based---a very colorful character, so I wasn't sure how she'd react, but she loved her. :)

The party sounds awesome, and even the awful breakfast because you & your friends will laugh about it forEVER!

I hope the writing goes well. ;)
